About Joint Commission International

The world's leading practices delivered

Improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of health care is a goal shared by health care organizations and countries around the world. Health care providers everywhere must keep pace with globalization and match demand for high-quality, accessible care.

Local needs vary and diverse cultures present unique challenges, yet Joint Commission International (JCI) stands alone as a consistent beacon for patient safety and quality improvement in the global community. Created in 1994 by The Joint Commission, JCI has a presence in more than 90 countries today.

JCI works with health care organizations, governments, and international advocates to promote rigorous standards of care and provide solutions for achieving peak performance. Our experts help organizations help themselves in three ways: accreditation, education, and advisory services.

This focus on the highest patient care standards and results-oriented process improvement has earned the respect of health care leaders. That's why The World Health Organization (WHO) partnered with JCI and The Joint Commission to establish the first WHO Collaborating Centre for Patient Safety Solutions.

In June 2011, JCI received four-year accreditation by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).  Accreditation by ISQua provides assurance that the standards, training and processes used by JCI to survey the performance of health care organizations meet the highest international benchmarks for accreditation entities.

JCI strategies deliver sustainable results that work.

Accreditation standards, policies, procedures and evaluation methods evolve and change on a continuous basis. Thus, JCI makes a significant investment in keeping our consultants, surveyors and accreditation partners up to date through continuous education and re-training. Please note that only those individuals and partners specifically referenced or listed on the JCI web site have benefited from this continuous education process.
