The Bon Secours Hospitals in Cork and Galway, both accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI), were jointly awarded the All-Ireland Safety Award for Medical Services in a presentation 4 October 2013 in Galway.

It was the fourth consecutive year that the Cork hospital won the award and the first year for the Galway-based hospital. Kieran McNamara, Health & Safety Manager, Cork, and Margaret McHugh, Quality & Risk Manager, Galway, accepted the award for their respective organizations (see photo). Both hospitals’ safety submissions were assessed by an independent panel of international and national health and safety experts representing the National Irish Safety Organisation and the Northern Ireland Safety Group.

The Bon Secours Hospital, Dublin, also accredited by JCI, was recognized at the event with a Highly Commended Award.
