Telehealth Certification Requirements

To be eligible for JCI Telehealth Certification, your organization must:

  • Be located outside of the United States and its territories.
  • Be currently operating as a health care provider with a license to provide care and treatment as a telehealth organization (if required).
  • Be fully accredited by JCI or will be accredited at the time of the telehealth certification survey.

At minimum, do one of the following:

  • Provide asynchronous (non-real-time communications) and synchronous (real-time interactions) care.
  • Provide remote patient monitoring consisting of transmitting and storing patient data and clinical measurements from in-home or in-unit devices to patient portals or electronic health records. This data transmission may either be asynchronous or support synchronous provider visits or patient care.
  • Provide mobile health (mHealth), an evolving area in which digital applications on smartphones can support patients between provider visits. Smartphones and third-party apps can assist with the following:
    • Remote patient monitoring
    • Push notifications reminding patients to follow treatment plans
  • Store detailed instructions or education materials if licensed to provide care and treatment as a telehealth organization (if required).
