Bedside (Point-of-Care) Testing in Hospitals: The Joint Commission International Perspective

Joint Commission International (JCI) Middle East Office Managing Director Derick Pasternak, M.D., MBA authored an article, “Bedside (Point-of-Care) Testing in Hospitals: The Joint Commission International Perspective,” which appeared in the Journal Point of Care: The Journal of Near-Patient Testing & Technology (Volume 7(4), December 2008, pp 233-238). In the article, Dr. Pasternak explores the risk in point-of-care testing, and the JCI standards and International Patient Safety Goals that address them. Also included is a brief discussion of the responsibility of the director of clinical laboratories in these processes.
