Examining hospitals, country by country…
Just as each country in Europe has its own distinct culture, so do the hospitals throughout Europe. In fact, in my journeys as managing director of JCI’s European office, I have discovered several relevant differences amongst hospitals. There is however one common thread stitching us all together—the declared willingness to improve health outcomes.
In my experiences helping health care organizations improve outcomes, I have been fortunate to collaborate with ministries of health, professional societies, and other influential groups, including the European Society for Quality Improvement in Healthcare, the European Association of Hospital Managers, and the European Association of Private Hospitals.
For these articles, we will explore the greatest issues challenging hospitals throughout Europe on a country by country basis—starting with Turkey. We will then explore Germany, Austria, and Spain. Each month, I will post a short article examining these issues, while providing some best practices and tips to help enhance patient safety and quality of care. As you read, I invite you to share your experiences and questions by emailing me directly.
