Klaus Kaltenbrunner, MD
Consultant, Joint Commission International
Dr. Kaltenbrunner has over 30 years of experience in health care and has been part of the quality team at Villach General Hospital in Austria for more than 10 years. He became interested in quality management after realizing that medical care in hospitals is strongly dependent on organization, cooperation and communication.
Dr. Kaltenbrunner’s other experience includes working as a child psychiatrist and neurologist (after working as a pediatrician, neurology became his main specialization as a medical doctor), as a “systemic family therapist,” which helps him to understand and analyze complex interrelated structures, and as the medical director of an “ambulatory for child neurology and psychiatry,” treating handicapped and mentally challenged children, youngsters and young adults.
Dr. Kaltenbrunner received his doctor of medicine from the University of Vienna in Austria; a diploma in pediatrics from LKH Villach Paediatric Service; a degree in child psychiatry and child neurology from LKH Klagenfurt; and a degree in psychotherapy from ÖGATAP Vienna, IGST Heidelberg in Austria.
