Linda Faber has more than 30 years of experience in health care, including extensive experience in leadership, management, and performance improvement. Currently, Dr. Faber is an assistant clinical professor at the UCLA School of Nursing and serves as faculty for the Joint Commission Resources, Inc. (JCR) Department of Education.

 

Before joining JCR and Joint Commission International, Dr. Faber served as director of performance improvement for the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center and as assistant director of performance improvement for the UCLA Health System, which includes one academic hospital, one large community affiliate hospital, and the UCLA Medical Center Ambulatory Care Center. In this capacity, she provided leadership and management to the UCLA Medical Center and to all components of the UCLA health system on accreditation readiness and compliance activities.

 

Previous to that, she was director of nursing research, education and quality improvement for the UCLA Medical Center. In that position she was responsible for the quality improvement program in the department of nursing and was a leader of the organization’s performance improvement program for the medical center’s Quality Improvement and Executive Quality Improvement Committees. She also served as a facilitator and trainer for multidisciplinary quality improvement teams and projects throughout the medical center and ambulatory care clinics. As director of nursing research and education, Dr. Faber also was responsible for training, education, and staff development for registered nurses, LVNs, and other licensed and non-licensed personnel. She was project manager for a large multi-institutional research outcomes study, in addition to designing and conducting her own research.

 

Dr. Faber also has served as associate chief of nursing research at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sepulveda, California, and has held positions as a nurse manager, housewide supervisor for both mental health services and acute care facilities, and clinical specialist in behavioral health.

 

Dr. Faber has extensive multicultural experience in working both domestically and internationally and has provided extensive consultation internationally in countries such as Brazil, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Japan, and Ireland. Her consulting expertise includes organization performance improvement (leadership, management, and data management skills); outcomes management, including clinical paths (design, implementation, and data management); systems analysis and design/redesign using statistical process control tools and techniques (technical expertise assistance and education); leadership in organizational development, staff education and training, team building and training; and standards and survey process (technical assistance, education, and compliance strategies and management).

 

Dr. Faber received her bachelor’s of science in nursing from the College of St. Teresa, Winona, Minnesota; and her master’s in nursing, MSPH, doctor of philosophy in public health, and a certificate in quality management and performance all from the University of California-Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California.

 

Her professional affiliations include Association of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, American Society of Quality Control, and International Society of Quality Control. She is a CNAA and a Certified Healthcare Executive. She is also a Joint Commission-certified Yellow Belt.
