Ann Jacobson brings demonstrated expertise as a nursing executive, healthcare consultant and performance improvement specialist to her role as Executive Director for Joint Commission International Accreditaton. She has been both a hospital surveyor, as well as formerly consulted and provided education for hospitals in Europe, Latin America and South America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East that are preparing for accreditation, as well as US hospitals. Prior to joining JCI, Ms. Jacobson served as Chief Nursing Officer for Mercy Health System, Western Ohio. In this position she was responsible for nursing services, emergency and outpatient departments.
Ms. Jacobson’s experience in numerous healthcare settings as an administrator, consultant, clinician and educator has given her a broad understanding of the healthcare field. In her extensive international consulting experience, Ms. Jacobson has assisted organizations preparing for accreditation, and implemented innovative approaches to patient care operations, process improvement and team development. She co-authored an article for Nursing Economics, “New Methodology Analyzing Fluctuating Unit Activity”. She has given numerous professional presentations ranging from quality improvement and patient safety, international accreditation and survey preparation, tracer methodology, resource utilization and staffing, professional practice environment to behavioral health services redesign.
