Ginger Whitlock has 38 years of domestic and international experience in hospitals, hospital-sponsored ambulatory care, and freestanding ambulatory care. Specifically, she has 20 years of experience in tertiary and ambulatory care; 16 years as a surveyor for The Joint Commission and 16 years as faculty for JCR’s Department of Education. In addition she has had 14 years of experience with Joint Commission Resources (JCR) domestic consulting and Joint Commission International, delivering consulting and health delivery expertise in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Jordan, India, Portugal, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Turkey, Lebanon and Brazil. 

 

At The Joint Commission, she was promoted from associate director to director of the Ambulatory Accreditation Program, and was actively involved in the development of the initial Managed Care and Third Party Evaluation Programs. She also authored domestic educational books and newsletters.

 

Internationally she served in the creation of standards for the review of the health care being delivered to Peace Corps volunteers. She has assisted in the development of the International Primary Care Standards as well as the second edition of the Ambulatory Care International Standards. She also participated in the creation of standards and education for staff involved in the Mecca Region Quality Initiative in Saudi Arabia.

 

Ms. Whitlock’s consulting expertise includes operational assessment; patient safety assessment; medication management; infection control and prevention; environment of care; executive leadership and governing bodies; performance improvement; incorporating tracer methodology and the periodic performance review as management tools; and medical record assessment. She has also assisted organizations in accreditation readiness such as: telemedicine, interventional radiology, imaging services (mobile and fixed), ambulatory surgery, sleep centers, primary health care, and dental services.

 

Ms. Whitlock received her diploma in nursing from Rex Hospital in North Carolina; her bachelor’s of science in nursing from North Carolina Wesleyan College; and her master’s of science in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is certified as a nursing administrator by the American Nurses Association and as a quality action team facilitator by Organization Dynamics, Inc.

 

Her professional affiliations include the American Academy of Ambulatory Nursing Administrators, American Professionals for Infection Control, and National Association for Healthcare Quality.
