With more than 20 years of experience in health care, Jilan Liu has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in health care delivery and financing by analyzing and managing a variety of health care delivery and financing systems.  These institutions have included HMOs, physician group management organizations, academic medical centers, and health services teaching and research. 

 

Dr. Liu provides consultation to hospital focusing on patient safety and quality around the world, and provides technical assistance to hospitals and other health care organizations in preparation for JCI accreditation.  She has also taught JCI standards and provided survey simulation / survey process demonstration at many of the JCI international practicums and related conferences. 

 

Prior to joining JCI, Dr. Liu was an independent consultant who provided consultation services in clinical and financial planning for health care services, management training, physician profiling and operational analysis, quality improvement and accreditation, clinical guideline development and implementation. More recently, she has worked as manager for practice performance and improvement for the Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound, one of the oldest and most influential HMOs in the United States. 

 

Dr. Liu received her medical degree from West China University of Medical Sciences in Chengdu, China in 1987. She went on to attain a master’s of health care administration from the University of Washington in 1994. This degree included an administrative internship with the University of Washington Physicians. She is also a visiting professor of the People’s University in Beijing, China.

 

Dr. Liu has resided in the US since 1991 and has lived in Seattle since 1992. She frequently travels to China and other countries for both professional and personal reasons. She is fluent in English and Chinese.
