Ashraf Ismail, MD, MPH, CPHQ

Managing Director, Middle East Office

Dr. Ismail is a physician with 20 years of international experience in hospital accreditation, health care quality management, performance improvement, and development of human resources for health. As an adjunct professor at George Mason University, School of Health and Human Services, he teaches a variety of courses for the certificate in quality and outcomes management. His contributions in postgraduate quality education and training are well recognized. He is fluent in English and Arabic.

In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Ismail has earned international respect for his work with large health organizations across the globe. As Strategic Planning Advisor to the Minister of Health in the United Arab Emirates, he helped developed the new strategy of the health sector. Dr. Ismail implemented Egypt’s first National Quality Improvement Program in Family Planning Clinics while working with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). He also serves as a WHO consultant in accreditation and health care quality. He is responsible for the Middle East and Africa regions.

Ossama Salamah, PharmD

International Sales Manager, Middle East Office

In his role as International Sales Manager of JCI’s Middle East Office in Dubai, Ossama Salamah works to build and manage strategic relationships with health care organizations, ministries of health, government and international aid agencies, leading academic medical centers and hospitals, and other quality and safety organizations. Mr. Salamah is a pharmacist with more than 10 years of experience in multinational healthcare and is a recognized trainer who has delivered more than 50 training courses to large organizations including the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Health, American Hospital Dubai, Mediclinic Middle East, Dubai Gold Exchange, Emirates NBD, and more. He is fluent in English and Arabic. He supports the Middle East and Africa regions.

John Yoon, MBA

Director, Asia-Pacific Office

Mr. Yoon serves as Director Asia-Pacific where he is responsible for the development of relationships between Joint Commission International and Asia-Pacific health care organizations, governments, and industry clients in their efforts to reduce risk and improve health outcomes. Prior to his role at Joint Commission International, Mr. Yoon served as Regional Director Southeast Asia and head of Philips Capital at Philips Healthcare Asia-Pacific office in Singapore. He is fluent in English and Korean.

Currently, Mr. Yoon serves as key opinion leader and consultant for Korea Health Industry Development Institute under the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare. Before joining JCI, he spent time as the General Manager at Mubadala Development Company in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, managing a multi-specialty spine surgery and rehabilitation hospital.

Sujit Bedi, MBA

Regional Manager, Asia-Pacific Office

Sujit Bedi is responsible for building and managing strategic relationships between Joint Commission International and Asia-Pacific health care organizations, governments, and industry clients in their efforts to reduce risk and improve health care quality and patient safety. Mr. Bedi has more than 15 years of health care industry experience and strong market knowledge. Based in Japan, he covers the Asia-Pacific region for JCI. He speaks English and conversational Japanese.

Joyce Chang, MHSA

Senior Director, Asia-Pacific Office

Joyce Chang is responsible for building and managing strategic relationships with Asia-Pacific health care organizations, ministries of health, government and international aid agencies, academic medical centers and hospitals, and other quality and patient safety organizations. She is fluent in English and Chinese.

Ms. Chang is a published health care expert. She co-authored the World Bank Group-commissioned China Urban Service and Governance Study Health Report, an in-depth profile of China’s health care infrastructure as well as an article on the impact of the growing middle class on the Chinese health care system (The Journal of the International Hospital Federation).

Kornelia Fiausch, MAS

Principal Consultant, Europe Region

In her business development and advisory services role with JCI, Kornelia Fiausch is a recognized expert in performance improvement and patient safety theory, tools, and techniques for large and small health care systems and individual organizations. Based in Austria, Ms. Fiausch is a featured speaker at JCI education events and works with JCI organizations across Europe and in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. She is fluent in English and German.

She served more than 20 years as chief nursing officer for a 700-bed hospital where she honed a deep expertise in leadership and health care management. Other areas of expertise include intensive care, geriatrics, acute care, and ambulatory care.
