What Does the Practicum Teach?

The Practicum's comprehensive program thoroughly prepares you for accreditation or reaccreditation. This program is especially helpful to teach new staff about the JCI accreditation process and standards.

• JCI’s International Patient Safety Goals
• Lessons learned from accredited organizations
• How to get started with JCI accreditation
• JCI’s tracer methodology (including an in-hospital tracer demonstration)
• JCI’s survey process
• Recent changes in the JCI standards
• JCI’s post-survey process for determining whether or not an organization should receive accreditation, including our decision rules.
• The most challenging standards
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Continual improvement
• The cost of accreditation
