The International Essentials for Health Care Quality and Patient Safety™

The Essentials Framework

The International Essentials for Health Care Quality and Patient Safety™ Framework is a guide to the hospital risk points that have the greatest impact upon patient care.  It will help organizations begin the process of designing and implementing a risk reduction program that will lead to improved patient safety.

The Essentials Framework highlights five (5) main areas of risk:

Under each main area, ten (10) criteria have been identified to help organizations drill down into specific risk practices.  In total, the 50 risk points presented in this document form a comprehensive guide to improving safety in your hospital.
