Joint Commission International's Seoul Practicum on Accreditation and Quality Improvement
28 September - 1 October 2010
Prepare for accreditation with JCI’s most comprehensive educational program
Delivering safe, high-quality health care is a challenge for all organizations, regardless of whether they are seeking their first accreditation or have been accredited for years. The JCI accreditation process is designed to help organizations meet this challenge through standards that create a culture of safety and quality, while continually improving patient care processes and results.
Preparing for accreditation or reaccreditation can be a difficult and confusing undertaking. The International Practicum has been designed to make accreditation preparation as simple as possible, by explaining JCI’s methods and standards while also highlighting the best practices and processes needed to achieve accreditation success.
The Practicum will enhance the preparation efforts of all health care professionals, regardless of their familiarity with JCI:
• Those new to the accreditation process will benefit from the clear explanation of the preparation required to succeed on the first survey.
• For those familiar with the accreditation process, the JCI practicum also discusses the newest and most frequently cited International Standards.
• All participants will benefit from the deep explanation of JCI’s methods and processes, which will allow organizations to prepare more effectively and efficiently.
The program is conducted through small group workshops, informative lectures, and in-hospital demonstrations. The JCI practicum will teach you everything you need to enhance your accreditation preparation and quality improvement efforts, through sessions such as:
The JCI Process: Learn the intricacies of the JCI process, from the first steps that every organization must complete to the last stages of the accreditation decision.
JCI Evaluation Methodologies: Learn how JCI evaluates organizational compliance, and how you can use these tools to enhance the quality of care you provide.
Quality Improvement Strategies: Learn how to conduct a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA), two powerful tools that can help your organization understand process failures and uncover potential errors.
Challenging Standards: Explore the standards that organizations are having the most difficulty meeting.
Tracer Demonstration Sessions: Join a small group to follow a JCI expert on two simulated tracers in local hospitals. See how JCI surveyors question staff members and assess information to evaluate standards compliance. See how an actual hospital responds to a JCI surveyor, and learn how your organization can most successfully complete your survey.

JCI educational programs are open to employees of health care organizations that are seeking or considering seeking JCI accreditation. JCI reserves the right to remove participants who do not meet these criteria at any time.
Refunds and Exchanges
JCI regrets that we cannot accommodate refund requests. JCI is happy to transfer registrations to other members of an organization. Unused registrations cannot be applied to other JCI programs or services.
Option 1: Register via Wire Transfer
To register using a wire transfer, please contact JCI’s registration team at jcicustomerservice@pbd.com
Wire transfer registration closes three weeks before the start of the program. Wire transfers often involve processing by several intermediary banks, which can take as long as two weeks. Since JCI must receive course fees prior to enrolling participants, the wire transfer option closes three weeks prior to the start of the program.
The submission of wire transfer forms and/or payment does not guarantee your registration. Due to the high volume of interested participants and our limited enrollment capacity, enrollment can only be accepted and confirmed after JCI has received all forms and payments. Forms and payments submitted after our capacity has been reached will not be honored. Please do not make travel or hotel arrangements until your enrollment has been confirmed.
Pro Forma invoice is not a confirmation of enrollment. Participants listed on the pro-forma invoice are not registered. Many organizations require a pro-forma invoice before they will process payment. JCI practicum participants are only registered once JCI has received payment, assuming space is still available.
JCI cannot register participants without payment. JCI will not be able to reserve seats prior to receiving payment. Your place in the practicum is only assured after JCI receives your enrollment fee, assuming space is still available.
Option 2:Register via Credit Card
Registering via credit card is an easy way to enroll in the JCI Practicum. To register via credit card, please use JCI's online registration system.
