Joint Commission International's (JCI) Advanced Practicum for Accreditation, Quality Improvement, and Patient Safety builds on our highly successful International Practicum series. This year, participants can choose either a beginner's or advanced educational track. In addition, both tracks will also include a simulated survey at a US hospital.
Advanced Track: For Accredited Organizations
This program is designed to prepare you to meet new JCI requirements, while increasing your capacity to deliver the highest quality of care possible. Additionally, the advanced track will offer a series of small-group workshops which will allow participants to collaborate with JCI experts on areas of common concern and develop solutions to persistent problems.
Featured Topics:
- New and Problematic Standards Update. Learn about the newest additions to the accreditation process and the most frequently scored standards.
- Innovative Management Strategies. Explore how management strategies from other industries are influencing hospitals in their quest for truly patient-safe care.
- Performance Measurement. See how health care experts are measuring performance, and using that data to drive organizational change.
Beginner's Track: For Organizations Seeking Accreditation
JCI is pleased to offer an educational track for organizations that are seeking their first accreditation, as we have done in areas around the world. Participants in this session will explore the JCI standards in depth. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to attend a simulated survey at a leading Chicago area hospital.
Featured Topics:
- JCI Patient Focused Standards. Discuss the methods, policies and procedures needed to meet JCI's patient focused standards, and thereby enhance your organization's ability to provide truly patient-safe care.
- JCI Organizational Management Standards. Learn the most current ways organizations are building safety and improvement into their processes by discussing JCI's organizational management standards.
- JCI Methodologies. From the Tracer Methodology to Root Cause Analysis, the JCI accreditation process demands proficiency in improvement methodologies. Learn these methods from the experts, and see them demonstrated in US health care facilities.
For All Participants
Whether you are new to the accreditation process or are a veteran of the several reaccreditations, this program will provide you with valuable information that will help make your next survey your easiest survey.
This program is ideal for:
- Hospital leaders
- Quality improvement directors
- Accreditation managers
- Patient safety officers
- Clinical leaders
Learn from the Leaders
Health care industry experts and experienced JCI faculty will provide the latest information on the most pressing trends in global health care. The Advanced Practicum also offers both formal and informal opportunities to interact with JCI executives, consultants, and educators about issues that affect your organization.
Agenda
The 2008 Advanced practicum offers two tracks. The beginner's track is most appropriate for those who have never been through an international accreditation survey. The advanced track will be most useful for those who have a solid understanding of the standards, and are interested in exploring solutions to specific problems.
