The mission of Joint Commission International is to continuously improve the safety and quality of care in the international community through the provision of education and consultation services and international accreditation. Joint Commission International (JCI) is a division of Joint Commission Resources (JCR), the not-for-profit affiliate of the Joint Commission. For more than 50 years, the Joint Commission and its predecessor organization have been dedicated to improving the quality and safety of health care services. Today the largest accreditor of health care organizations in the United States, the Joint Commission surveys nearly 20,000 health care programs through a voluntary accreditation process.
The Joint Commission and its affiliate are both not-for-profit corporations.
